Austin Aztex News Release
AUSTIN, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) - The addition of Mechack Jerome, pending USSF D-2 Pro League approval and international clearance, will be the second addition to the Aztex roster in the past week.
Last week the Aztex added forward Peri Marosevic to the attack. The most recent pickup, Mechack Jerome, will be used to add depth to the backline.
Jerome was spotted when the Aztex took on the Haitian National Team in a friendly match on April 28. While hosting the Haitian National Team, the Aztex helped to raise $11,500 for the Haitian relief efforts.
The defender played the entire game for his national team against the Aztex and was able to catch the eye of Aztex Head Coach Adrian Heath.
"Jerome will be an impactful young player for us. We look forward to seeing what he can do on the pitch to help us," Coach Adrian Heath said. "We feel he has plenty of potential. The acquisition is going to be very beneficial for both parties."
Austin currently sits atop the USSF D-2 Pro League table with 27 points, seven clear of the next closest competition. The Aztex next take on Miami FC for the third time this season on Saturday in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. In their two previous matchups, the Aztex defeated the Blues 3-1 both in Ft. Lauderdale and in Austin.
