Austin Aztex News Release
The Austin Aztex made a move to sure up their midfield on Tuesday by trading for the Montreal Impact's Tyler Hemming for future considerations. Hemming, a capped Canadian international, has played in five matches for the Impact this season, four of those in a starting role.
Hemming was a standout for Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., starting all four years of his college career and twice earning Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Year honors.
The electric midfielder first played for Toronto FC of the MLS when he was drafted 40th overall in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. In 2008, Hemming left Toronto FC for Tempere United, a Finnish First-Division squad.
In 2009 the London, Ontario, native suited up for the Charleston Battery. Logging more than 2,000 minutes with the Battery, Hemming compiled three assists while starting in 22 matches.
"We are delighted to add Tyler to the team," Head Coach Adrian Heath said. "Tyler is going to add much-needed depth to the midfield as we make our push to the playoffs and look to maintain our position on top of the league table."
