AZ United to Host Mexican National Under-20 Team

PHOENIX - In its first match against international competition, Arizona United Soccer Club will play the Mexican National Under-20 team on Sunday, April 17, 2:00pm at Peoria Sports Complex.

"We're excited to play host to El Tricolor and its legions of faithful followers," Arizona United SC head coach Frank Yallop said. "At a time when Arizona governmental and business leaders are strengthening partnerships with Mexico, we welcome the opportunity to participate in this showcase event with our neighbors. This is a great chance for Valley soccer fans to see some future international stars."

Added Mexican manager Sergio Almaguer: "We are very excited to travel to Arizona and compete against a very strong opponent in Arizona United. We look forward to bringing fans a fantastic game as we continue our preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup."

The Mexican National Under-20 team has a rich history in international play, winning the last three CONCACAF Under-20 championships. Lineups for both squads will be announced later.

The match will mark Arizona United SC's return to Peoria, where it played its debut season in 2014. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

Arizona United's USL home opener will be on Saturday, April 30, against Portland Timbers 2. The 2016 season kicks off on March 26 at Los Angeles Galaxy II.
