Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
Chris Avery had a career-high and team-record four rushing touchdowns against the Las Vegas Gladiators Friday night. Sadly, that would be the only scores the Rampage would muster as they lost 56-28 and fell to 1-9 on the season.
For a third consecutive game, Rampage quarterback Michael Bishop tossed two interceptions and the team was penalized at least 11 times. He also fumbled in the red zone on another Grand Rapids possession. Bishop's three turnovers resulted in 19 points for Vegas.
Nick Browder was brought in at the beginning of the fourth quarter and matched Bishop's 103 passing yards in just 15 minutes of game play. Browder finished 10-of-15 for 103 yards with no TDs or interceptions. Bishop was 12-of-18 for 103 yards with no TDs and two picks. For the first time in Rampage history the team failed to score a passing touchdown and over the last three games have just five scores through the air, but have nine on the ground.
Former Rampage quarterback Clint Dolezel was named the Offensive Player of the Game after completing 24-of-30 passes for 230 yards and five scores in little more than three quarters of play. Another former Rampage player, Ricky Ross, caught two of Dolezel's strikes. ADT Defensive Player of the Game Cornelius Bonner also grabbed two touchdowns and added a third on a 55-yard interception return for a score. Rampage defensive specialist Damon Mason recorded 11.5 tackles (second most in his career and second most in Rampage history).
Grand Rapids heads south to Atlanta next Friday (April 15) to take on the Georgia Force (8-3). The game will be broadcast on AFLnet. For more information, please log onto ArenaFootball.com.
