Avendano Wins Pitcher Of Week Award For Third Time

(Volcanoes Stadium - Keizer, OR) - The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club is proud to announce that the Northwest League of Professional Baseball has named RHP Javier Avendano Pitcher of the Week (August 13-19).

This marks the third time that RHP Javier Avendano has won the award. (June 18-24 & August 6-12).

This past week, the native of Maracaibo, Venezuela, was outstanding for the Canadians going 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00 through six scoreless innings, striking out seven to help Vancouver top Everett 5-0 on August 16th out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Avendano joins 2010 Vancouver Canadians RHP Matt Thomson as the only pitcher's in C's Class-A Short-Season history to win the weekly award three times in a season.

The Vancouver Canadians play game two of a three-game series in Salem-Keizer, OR tonight at 7:05pm. Vancouver sends RHP Taylor Cole (4-0) to the mound in search of the C's second straight win and third straight series victory.

Vancouver Canadians Baseball returns to Scotiabank Field on Wednesday, August 22nd at 7:05pm to welcome the Boise Hawks for five games. This marks the final regular season series of the 2012 season. Tickets to the Saturday, August 25th game are SOLD OUT.
