Auction Features Kelly Cup Finals Game-Used Pucks

Published on May 30, 2006 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL in association with The MeiGray Group announced that goal-scoring pucks and game-used pucks from the 2006 Kelly Cup Finals will be made available to collectors around the globe.

The custom pucks, which feature the team logos in full color on one side and the Kelly Cup Finals logo and signature of ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna on the other side, are not available for purchase anywhere else.

Pucks from Games 1 and 2 will be available beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Pucks will be taken from the ice by an on-ice official and handed to an off-ice official who will turn it over to an ECHL/MeiGray Group representative at the game to ensure absolute authenticity.

"The Kelly Cup is indicative of ECHL supremacy and for collectors to be able to own a unique puck that was actually used during play or even one that entered the net ... and was authenticated at the scene. It doesn't get any better than that for an ECHL collector," said Barry Meisel, MeiGray Group President and Chief Operating Officer.

Fans can access the auction at ECHL.com , MeiGray.com and ECHLAuction.at.EDeal.com to bid on the historic goal-scoring pucks and game-used pucks from the 2006 Kelly Cup Finals.

Game-worn jerseys and game-used pucks from each of the past five All-Star Games have been auctioned for charity, raising more than $88,000 for the PHPA Health and Welfare Fund (2005 and 2006), Make-A-Wish Foundation (2004), Karmanos Cancer Institute (2003) and Twin Towers Fund (2002).

The ECHL and MeiGray raised $21,819.19 for the Salvation Army Hurricane Relief efforts by auctioning custom-designed game-worn jerseys worn by league goaltenders and game-used pucks from home openers in 2006.

The leading distributor of game-worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," The MeiGray Group has sold almost 3,000 game-worn ECHL jerseys since the program began in 2002-03, including almost 900 each of the past two seasons.
