February 15, 2013 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Amsterdam Mohawks News Release
Saturday's matchup in Auburn, AL between the Maine BlackBears and Auburn Tigers will feature two former Amsterdam Mohawks pitchers. Scott Heath (Maine) and Rocky McCord (Auburn) were teammates last summer in Amsterdam and will take the mound opposite each other. Both are slated as #2 starters on their respective teams.
McCord was one of the dominant starters on the Mohawks staff last summer that won its 3rd PGCBL title in the last four years. He was rated by some publications as the #1 professional prospect in the league after throwing a 95 mph fastball in the PGCBL All-Star game.
Heath was coming off Tommy John surgery last summer and was limited in the amount of innings he was able to throw but had a successful summer both on the mound and at the plate as an outfielder on the team.
College baseball officially opens today and many former and current Mohawks will be in action. The best way to follow your favorites are through the website www.D1Baseball.com
The Mohawks open their 2013 campaign on Wednesday June 5.
