Atlantic City Blackjacks News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ- The Atlantic City Blackjacks announce that two players have been assigned to the team roster. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed. The free agency signing period for the Arena Football League began on Monday, March 4.

Cornelius Lewis, Offensive Line

C. Lewis is originally from Jacksonville, Florida and played football at Florida State for his freshman season, then transferred to Tennessee State. There, Lewis was a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection, as well as a First Team AP All-American during his senior season. Following college, Lewis was invited to the 2009 NFL Combine where he went undrafted. Later, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts and attended their training camp. He found his way to arena football and has played with the Iowa Barnstorm, Jacksonville Sharks, Tampa Bay Storm and Massachusetts Pirates. Throughout his years, Lewis has earned First Team All-Arena Honors and First Team All-NAL Honors. Lewis is listed at 6'5, 360 pounds and looks to be a disruptive force for the opponent's defensive line this season.

Monte Lewis, Defensive Line

M. Lewis is from Abbeville, Alabama and went to Jacksonville State from 2007-2011. There, he was the team's starter in his final two and a half seasons and helped the Gamecocks to 32 wins. In total he played 45 games in his college career and was named First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference as a junior and Second Team All-OVC as a senior.

During his professional career, Lewis has been a member of the Washington Redskins, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Ottawa Redblacks, San Jose SaberCats, Orlando Predators, Tampa Bay Storm and the Baltimore Brigade. For his AFL career, Lewis has nine tackles, four sacks and two pass blocks.

"Fortunately, I've been around most of the staff before, so I know exactly what I'm going to get from them," said Lewis. "I'm very big on people's character. Honestly speaking, they're all great coaches and they're even better people. That means more to me than anything. I like to surround myself with people such as themselves, so that's why I joined AC."
