Atlantic City AFL to Host Open Player Tryouts on March 30

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ- Atlantic City AFL (AC AFL) will host their first ever open tryout on Saturday, March 30 at the Virtua Total Turf Experience, LLC at 614 Lambs Road in Pitman, New Jersey. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and tryouts will begin at 9 a.m.

In attendance will be AFL Executive Committee Chair and Trifecta Sports & Entertainment Owner Ron Jaworski, Atlantic City AFL COO George Manias, Atlantic City AFL Head Coach Ron James, and the entire Atlantic City coaching staff. Participants will be evaluated by the coaching staff as the team looks to seek out the best local talent ahead of training camp scheduled to begin in early April.

"We know that there is outstanding talent in the South Jersey market, and we encourage those who want to continue their dream of playing professional football to come and tryout for our new franchise in Atlantic City," said Jaworski. "We would love to have local talent represented when we take the field for our inaugural home game at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, May 4."

"Open tryouts are a valuable tool to get a look at athletes wanting to play professional football," said James. "We are serious about evaluating players to make our inaugural roster in Atlantic City and look forward to finding quality football players for our team."

A pre-registration fee of $65 can be applied at www.AtlanticCityAFL.com before Friday, March 29 at 3 p.m. Registration after that time and on the day of will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier's check only). A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.

Players will be tested on their 40-yard dash time and short shuttle with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow. Please bring appropriate workout gear and shoes/cleats. Testing will take place on field turf - no metal cleats are permitted. All positions will be evaluated in tryouts- QB, WR, FB, DB, LB, DL & OL and K. A trainer will be on hand for emergencies only - not for player taping.

"As we enter the Atlantic City market, our open player tryouts are a great way for us to connect with the community," said Manias. "It would be ideal for us to find a hidden gem from the area and have them make our team. We plan on being a part of this community and we want to give back wherever and whenever possible. Hosting an event such as this in our own community hopefully shows that we are committed and excited to be part of this community for the long haul."

AC AFL's inaugural campaign will begin on the road on Saturday, April 27th against the three-time League champions, Philadelphia Soul, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Kickoff time will be announced at a later date. AC AFL will play their first ever home game at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, May 4 against Columbus AFL.
