Combined with several key rookie additions, this year's squad has its sights on the 2004 IWFL Championship, which is being held in Sacramento, CA on July 24th.

Atlanta's season start is just a few short weeks away, as they travel to Jacksonville, FL to play the Dixie Blues in a preseason contest on March 27th. The Xplosion will kick off the 2004 Regular Season with a monumental roadtrip to the 2003 IWFL runners-up - the New York Sharks - on April 3rd. Atlanta's first homegame will be on Saturday, April 17th versus the Knoxville Summitt.

ABOUT THE IWFL

Founded in 2000, the IWFL is a member organization of team owners created to support the new sport of women's tackle football. The IWFL is home to the most successful and talented teams in the United States. A record 70,000 fans attended IWFL games during the 2003 season, up from 30,000 in 2002. The 2003 IWFL Finals concluded with the Sacramento Sirens capturing the IWFL national championship title. The league enters its 4th season in 2004.

Pumped up by the success of its sport, the Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) announced the Nike IWFL All-American-Girl football, fully customized with the league logo and distinctive colors which will be the new official game ball of the IWFL beginning this season. The Nike IWFL All-American-Girl football, which allows fans to differentiate the sport of women's football from the male dominated sport so many Americans are familiar with, will debut when the season kicks off on April 3rd, 2004. The ball, complete with the new red, white and blue design will now be the mark of these talented female athletes. With the IWFL All-American-Girl football, girls and women alike can have a football of their own.

The IWFL enables its member teams to function independently, focusing on their local markets while combining resources and strategies for the successful marketing and promotion of women's football. New teams undergo extensive background checks and interviews before being admitted to the league. This process ensures the level of play remains high for the fans and enables the IWFL to continue to set the standard as America's number one women's football league.
