Atlanta Xplosion Celebrates inaugural victory over Orlando Starz

The Atlanta Xplosion left Orlando seeing "Starz" with a booming 39-0 victory last Saturday evening in front of an electric crowd of over 800 at Clark Atlanta University's Panther Stadium.
The Xplosion (1-0) piled up 454 total yards of offense, while their defense added another 125 yards in interception returns. Orlando (0-2) was held to a total of 66 yards of offense and a meager 3 first downs in 60 minutes of spirited play. Atlanta lowered the BOOM on its second play from scrimmage with a touchdown and never looked back from there. Running back Kristal "Shorty" Holmes ignited the "Bomb Squad's offensive XPLOSION with a 66 yard sprint for a score only 1:57 minutes into the contest. Quarterback Sue Cackowski went 6-for-12 with 139 yards, no interceptions, and 2 touchdown strikes to lethal wide receiver Angela "Def" Rowe (3 rec for 107 yards).
Atlanta's stellar "Darkside" defense played textbook football all evening- tallying 3 sacks, 4 tackles/loss, 4 passes tipped, and 4 interceptions. Free Safety Mary Kay Bateman lived up to her jersey # 21 in earning her "Primetime" nickname: Bateman picked Orlando's pocket for 3 of the day's four INTs, while racking up 105 yards on returns and scoring on her 3rd- a 60 yard burst down the visiting sideline.
"The pressure applied up front by the D-Line and the protection provided by our O-Line were the difference tonight- we won the battle for the line of scrimmage all day long", stated Head Coach M.G. Dawson. "Hats off to my Coordinators and Assistants for the excellent job in preparing these women to be in position to make plays- and they did just that." The Xplosion have an open date on the schedule this week- before traveling to Tampa Bay to play the Terminators (1-0) on May 3rd.
