Atlanta Blaze Win Big in Supplemental Draft

January 18, 2018 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Atlanta Blaze News Release

Atlanta Blaze bolster roster with today's additions in the MLL Supplemental Draft

Kennesaw, GA - Major League Lacrosse conducted the 2018 Supplemental draft today, in which the Atlanta Blaze gained 15 new players to round out the roster at 35. Included in the draft class are 2017 Blaze player and former Syracuse star Dylan Donahue, NLL All-stars Jason and Jeremy Noble, and Duke standout Jack Bruckner.

The Atlanta Blaze also finalized two trades at the start of the draft, sending sending James Pannell to the Cannons in exchange for the 10th pick in the college draft, and with the Rattlers in which the Blaze received college picks #24, #32, and #51 in exchange for Jesse King and Randy Staats. With these two transactions, the Blaze now hold the 2nd, 10th, 11th, 20th, 24th, 29th, and 32nd picks out of the top 35 in the MLL Entry Draft which will take place this spring.

Today's moves position the Blaze very well heading into April's training camp as these players join all-stars Scott Ratliff, Kevin Rice, Matt Mackrides and Adam Ghitelman, as well as returning players Jake Withers, Callum Robinson and Graeme Hossack. Of the draft and the trades, Head Coach Liam Banks said, "Today through the supplemental draft we believe our team got better. We added veterans and guys that were excellent college players but may have not gotten the right opportunity in the MLL. We also strengthened our position within the college draft and will look to get better through that draft as well. We are looking forward to training camp and the competition that will take place before we cut our roster to 32 players"
