Atlanta Blaze Team Morale at An All-Time High

April 6, 2017 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Atlanta Blaze News Release

KENNESAW - Athletes all know the saying "feel good, play good", and right now the Blaze players and coaching staff are feeling great. With the team in high spirits, it's safe to assume that the Blaze will have an impressive showing at the team's first scrimmage on Saturday, April 8th-an event that will be free to attend for all fans.

"When approaching the start of the season, the only aspect that is expected is that all of the guys can play. We know all are very skilled lacrosse players who are at the very top of the game.", said Blaze General Manager - Spencer Ford. "With that said, the area of unknown is three-fold: 1) Can we develop team chemistry? 2) Was there positive energy? and 3) Did all have a positive attitude? [I feel that] the answer was an absolute yes to all of those questions and as a staff, Coach Huntley, Coach Munro and myself are extremely excited for the next step and continuing the development of this team." Ford added. The Blaze is pairing with Shootout for Soldiers for the scrimmage on Saturday, where the Blaze will take on the Kennesaw State University men's lacrosse team at 5 pm at KSU's "The Owl's Nest".

Team Captain Scott Ratliff shared Ford's enthusiasm saying, "Camp went great. There was definitely a natural chemistry with all of the guys and coaches. I felt like the skill level and the depth of talent at camp was as good as I have seen in my previous 4 seasons in the league." Ratliff was clear to mention that the guys are fired up to play on Saturday night, adding that "it will be great to get up and down as a team and play against a different jersey. It will also be a lot of fun to give the fans a first look at the 2017 Blaze."

Atlanta Blaze Owner Peter Trematerra was present at training camp as well and said, "It's evident that all of the players on our field this past weekend were extremely diligent about staying on top of their fitness and skills in the off season. We have a talented and healthy team that are itching to play together against Ohio in a few weeks, but even more so to scrimmage against the KSU Men's Lacrosse team in support of such a tremendous cause in Shootout For Soldiers."

Entry to the scrimmage will be totally free, and fans will be able to make donations at the game to benefit our nation's veterans.
