Atlanta Blaze News Release

ATLANTA, GA - Atlanta Blaze training camp, held at various locations in Atlanta, provided the coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate the 2019 Blaze roster that Blaze Vice President of Player Personnel Spencer Ford loaded with talent. Familiar faces like captains Liam Byrnes, Chris Madalon, and Tommy Palasek led a large group of new players into what Head Coach Liam Banks called "the Blaze's most competitive training camp we have ever had."

"The Blaze training camp was an intense two weekends of competition; there were a lot of hungry players out there looking to be the future superstars of Major League Lacrosse. I was extremely pleased with the effort of all the players. It was very nice to be in Midtown - it finally feels like we are a part of the DNA makeup of the city of Atlanta," said Coach Banks.

Veteran players Randy Staats and Tommy Palasek highlighted much of the attack game during the training camp. Further highlighted between Staats, Shayne Jackson, and Bryan Cole's was their Georgia Swarm connection that showed phenomenal passing and chemistry between the trio. In the midfield, Brendan Sunday and Colton Jackson did not disappoint, as they were dynamic and making the sort of magical plays that fans certainly will not want to miss this summer.

With Liam Byrnes leading the way the competition on the defensive side of the ball at the Blaze training camp was extremely high level. "Players came ready to compete and prove their worth on the field. The speed and athleticism were amazing," said Defensive Coordinator Todd Francis.

With many onlookers eagerly awaiting the rapidly approaching start of the 2019 season, the Atlanta Blaze Organization's leadership is thrilled by what the future holds for the franchise. "It was great to see so many high character and talented players lay it all on the line for a chance to represent their team, the league, and their city," said Ford.

The Blaze organization is in a great position for the immediate future and beyond, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you opening day on June 2!
