Atlanta Blaze News Release
KENNESAW - The Atlanta Blaze are excited to announce the hiring of Jamie Munro, founder of 3d Lacrosse, LLC., as the newest addition to the Blaze coaching staff. Munro will serve as the defensive coordinator for the 2017 season.
Munro, who was an All-American at Brown University, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Blaze defense. Munro began his coaching career at Yale University, serving as assistant coach for the Bulldogs from 1991 to 1998, at which point he took the head coaching position at the University of Denver. He coached at Denver from 1998 to 2009, leading the Pioneers to a 91-70 record, four Great Western Lacrosse League titles, and two NCAA Tournament berths during his 11 seasons. Munro also totes professional playing and coaching experience, having played for the Boston Blazers of the NLL and serving as an assistant for Major League Lacrosse's Boston Cannons.
Munro, however, is probably most known for his contribution to the development of young players through the 3d Lacrosse organization. He is both the founder and chief innovation officer of the organization, which aims to provide players with an "evolutionary approach to training to allow them to achieve the highest level of skill and performance."
When asked about the hire, Blaze General Manager Spencer Ford stated, "Jamie is a great friend to [Coach] Huntley and I as well as my boss at 3d Lacrosse. We have spent the last four years getting to know each other a great deal, and I can honestly say that he is so knowledgeable in this game and will be an asset to us on the defensive end of the field."
