Kennesaw, GA - The Atlanta Blaze (6-6) defeated the Chesapeake Bayhawks (8-4) tonight at Fifth Third Bank Stadium, 12-11, wearing alternate color rush uniforms for the first time. The Blaze beat the Bayhawks behind stellar play in goal by Adam Ghitelman. Ghitelman, making his seventh start of the season, stopped 11 of 21 shots, improving his record to 3-4. Kevin Rice scored up a hat trick and was helped offensively by Christian Cuccinello who put up five points to secure the win for Atlanta.

Rookie midfielders Connor Kelly and Kyle McClancy had breakout games against Chesapeake; Kelly netted his second two-point goal in addition to another goal and McClancy had his first Major League Lacrosse goal and picked up a ground ball while contributing to a lockdown defense. Faceoff specialist Joe Nardella was in rare form, winning 14-24 faceoffs and snagging six ground balls.

The Blaze defense should be given much credit for the win. Under Adam Ghitelman's direction, Coca Cola Player of the Game Scott Ratliff picked up seven ground balls while Callum Robinson and Graeme Hossack, returning from the World Championships, shut down dodging attackmen and prevented Chesapeake star Steele Stanwick from netting a single goal.

The Atlanta Blaze will be back in action at Fifth Third Bank Stadium next Saturday, August 4th at 7 p.m. All Atlanta Blaze home games are played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the campus of Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. Single-game tickets are on sale now at AtlantaBlaze.com/Tickets.
