
Astros fall 6-5 in series finale

Danville, VA - The Greeneville Astros (29-28) fell 6-5 to the Danville Braves (27-31) on Saturday winning the series but just missing their first sweep of the 2015 season.
Salvador Montano (1-3, 5.29 ERA) took the start for the Astros facing the Braves' Patrick Weigel (0-2, 3.92 ERA). Montano pitched four full innings, allowed six hits, three runs and struck out five batters.
The Astros posted a run in the top of the first inning to take the lead early in the matchup. Myles Straw led off the game with an infield single then advanced to second on a groundout by Daz Cameron. With Randy Cesar batting, Straw swiped third for his 18th base of the season then scored on a groundout by Cesar.
Greeneville padded their lead in the top of the third frame after Christian Correa drew a leadoff walk. Ford Stainback followed by reaching first on a fielder's choice then moved to third when Straw sent his tenth double of 2015 to right. Cameron followed with a sacrifice fly to left to score Stainback with Straw crossing the plate in the next at-bat where Cesar grounded out while putting the Astros up 3-0.
The Braves answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the score with hits by Ray-Patrick Didder, Jose Morel, and Jeff Campbell. Yeudi Grullon, Didder and Morel each scored.
Both clubs were silent at the plate before bursting for runs in the seventh inning. Right-hander Dylan James anchored the Astros in relief of Montano as he pitched the fifth inning, allowed two hits and struck out two batters. Chad Sobotka tossed the fifth and sixth for the Braves allowing no hits, no runs and striking out two.
In the top of the seventh, the Astros re-took the lead with a pair of runs spurred by Arturo Michelena reaching third on a fielding error. Gabriel Bracamonte followed with an RBI groundout to score Michelena and make the score 4-3. Stainback then knocked his sixth double of the season to right field, which was followed by an RBI single by Straw.
Danville answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh beginning with a single by Austin Riley. One batter later, Juan Yepez singled then he and Riley scored when Justin Ellison hit his third home run of the season to put the Braves ahead 6-5.
Righty Albert Abreu took the loss for the Astros as he pitched two innings, allowed four hits, three runs and struck out four batters. Ben Libuda took the win in relief for the Braves with two and one-third innings pitched, two hits and two runs allowed with five strikeouts. Joselo Pinales capped off the game for Greeneville tossing the ninth inning and striking out two.
Straw led the Astros' bats with a 3-for-4 performance including a double, one walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Cesar went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. Bracamonte and Stainback each went 1-for-2 as Bracamonte recorded an RBI and Stainback crossed the plate with a run. Michelena went 0-for-4 but scored one run.
The Astros return home to Pioneer Park on Sunday for the first of a three-game series with the Elizabethton Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM as the two clubs compete for one of the Western Division's top-two standings slots.
