Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros (27-26) plated four runs in the first inning to take an early lead, but the visiting Kingsport Mets (19-34) came back to tie the game in the fourth. Then, the Astros scored a run in each of the next four innings to double up the Mets, 8-4, and win the season series six games to five.

The Astros' first three batters quickly loaded the bases in the first inning. Then, Stijn van der Meer scored the first run as Connor MacDonald reached on a fielding error. Reiny Beltre immediately followed with a RBI single. Next, Carlos Machado grounded into a double play but still scored Frankeny Fernandez. Finally, MacDonald scored on a wild pitch to put the Astros on top, 4-0.

The Mets got one of those runs back right away as Jeremy Wolf hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Two innings later, in the fourth, they made up the rest of the deficit.

With runners at first and third and one out, Wolf connected on a RBI single. Then, Jose Miguel Medina singled to load the bases. Next, Yeffry De Aza followed with a two-run single into centerfield and the game was tied at 4-4.

The tie did not last long because van der Meer connected on a ground ball single in the bottom of the fourth to plate a run and put the Astros back on top. It was the shortstop's first of two RBI singles on the afternoon and set the Astros on course to score a run in four consecutive innings.

In the fifth inning, MacDonald crushed a one-out, solo homer to dead centerfield to give him his sixth of the season. In the sixth, van der Meer got his second RBI single on a ground ball to left field. Finally, in the seventh, Fernandez scored on a MacDonald sacrifice fly after getting on with a walk and stealing both second and third.

Astros lefty Patrick Sandoval started the game and struck out seven over four innings, surrendering three earned runs on five hits before giving way to Luis Ramirez (1-1). Over his one inning of work, Ramirez gave up just one hit and picked up a strikeout to earn the win.

Diogenes Almengo pitched the final four innings and was credited with his third save of the season. The 21-year-old right hander gave up one hit, walked five, and struck out three as he closed the game.

Following a league-wide off day on Wednesday, the Astros will begin a six-game road trip. First, they will travel to Danville for a three-game set with the Braves. Then, they will visit the Burlington Royals for three before returning home to face the Braves again on Wednesday, August 24th.
