Greeneville Astros News Release
GREENEVILLE, TN - The Greeneville Astros defeated the Bristol Sox on Wednesday by a score of 5-1. The win puts Greeneville back above .500 with a 15-14 record, and currently third in the West Division. Meanwhile, the loss drops Bristol to 12-17 and fifth in the division.
The Astros first got on the board in the second inning. Telvin Nash, who went two for three on the night, hit a two-run homer to right center field. Then, following a Carlos Mojica double on a ground ball to left field, Bryce Lane singled on a line drive to right field and brought Mojica in to give Greeneville a 3-0 lead.
The very next inning, Nash came back to the plate with Chris Wallace on first base after a single. Wallace advanced to second on a wild pitch and came home for a score when Nash connected on a RBI-single.
Bristol finally got a run in the seventh inning when John Spatola led off the inning with a solo homerun that went right down the right field line. However, that was all the damage they could do.
Greeneville picked up one more run in the next half inning when Ricardo Garcia scored on a wild pitch. That concluded the scoring and left the Astros with a 5-1 win.
Euris Quezada (2-2) got the win as he started the game for Greeneville and pitched seven full innings. In that time, he gave up five hits, one earned run, and had five strikeouts.
Jeiler Castillo followed Quezada and finished the game. He pitched two innings, gave up two hits, and had one strikeout.
The Astros conclude their series with the Bristol Sox on Thursday at 7:00pm at Pioneer Park. Gates will open at 6:00pm. It will be Going Greene Night, and fans arriving early will receive an Astros recyclable handbag as they enter. Tickets are available at the Astros administrative office and online.
