August 31, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Question from William R, Los Angeles (and others): "Will some of the celebrity owners of the Hollywood Fame be playing on the team or going to the games?"

Answer: Williams (and others): Thanks for the questions. News travels very fast. Great questions. It's pretty safe to say YES to both questions. The celebrity owners of the Hollywood Fame will be suiting up as 13th Men regularly. Can you imagine the impact that John Salley will have; he can still play. And as owners, I am sure that they and many of their celebrity friends will be attending the games regularly also. They do things pretty big in Hollywood and you've only seen the tip of the iceberg. They have some fabulous plans to make the Hollywood Fame the best sports and entertainment option in Los Angeles. And the tickets will be fan-friendly, family-friendly and affordable too. It would be wise to check out season tickets now. And because the Hollywood Fame will be so loaded with celebrities, we are going to schedule quite a few games "out of their division" so that fans around the country can see them. MLB, NASCAR, NBA, NFL, Showbiz - and the ABA all wrapped up in one neat package. It doesn't get any better than that. And on the other questions about Allen Iverson attending games, we play during the NBA season, so it is difficult to say - but hopefully we'll be close enough on some off days and maybe we can get him there, though I doubt he'll suit up as the 13th man. If you have a question, email joenewman@abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
