Asheville's Knight Earns GATORADE Call-up

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 16 – The Houston Rockets have signed Asheville Altitude guard Brandin Knight to a 10-day contract, making him the fourth GATORADE Call-up of the National Basketball Development League season and the third in seven days.

Knight is the 43rd overall GATORADE Call-up and the 32nd player to be promoted since the NBDL began play in November 2001. Knight is the second member of the Altitude to earn a GATORADE Call-up this season and the seventh Asheville player to earn a promotion under Coach Joey Meyer.

Knight, the younger brother of Charlotte Bobcats guard Brevin Knight, has played in 18 games (18 starts) for the Altitude, averaging 29.0 minutes, 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds. He is third in the NBDL in assists per game at 5.4.

The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.) and Asheville Altitude (N.C.).

The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. In addition to 32 players, nine former NBDL coaches, five athletic trainers, 11 referees and 29 front office executives have also been called up to the NBA umbrella since the start of the league's inaugural season.
