
Asheville Acquires Rusty LaRue

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 6 â The Asheville Altitude has acquired Rusty LaRue and released guard Tobe Carberry, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Altitude head coach Joey Meyer.
LaRue, a 6-3, 195-pound guard from Wake Forest (96) will be making his second stop in Asheville. He played in 26 games, averaging 28.0 minutes, 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists during the NBDL's inaugural season before being called up by the Utah Jazz on Jan. 28, 2002. After signing a pair of 10-day contracts, LaRue signed for the remainder of the season on Feb. 21, 2002. He played internationally last year.
LaRue has played in 94 NBA games (seven starts), averaging 5.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He is expected to be in uniform when the Altitude visits Fayetteville Saturday.
