July 28, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Long Beach Armada News Release

The Long Beach Armada begins the final third of the season looking to make a push for the team's third straight playoff appearance. With 28 games left in 2009, the Armada will try to recapture the late-season magic we've seen each of the past two seasons. Long Beach is 3-7 in the second half and 23-25 overall this season.

Scott Lonergan takes the mound for Long Beach tonight (July 28) on another $1 Hot Dog Tuesday. First pitch tonight is at 7:05pm at Blair Field.

Wednesday's game (July 29) is the only home day game of the season for the Fleet. Dusty Gober takes the mound for his hometown team with first pitch at 12:05pm. The day game is Kids Day Out where all kids attending the game will get a special goodie bag on their way out of the ballpark.

On Thursday, Japanese sensation and former major leaguer Hideki Irabu takes the mound for Long Beach once again. The flame-throwing Irabu will be on the mound as we once again host Happy Hour at the Ballpark with $2 beers Thursday (July 30) from 5:30pm-7:30pm. First pitch is at 7:05pm with gates opening early at 5:30pm.

First pitch at 12:05pm and gates open at 11:05am. Roster makes waves The Long Beach Armada roster has been making waves over the last weeks. The most recent move has been the trade to acquire All-Star second baseman and Long Beach native Dan Luyben from the Chico Outlaws in exchange for relief pitcher Ryne Tacker.
