Long Beach Armada News Release

The Crew sailed from Long Beach for a quick three-game road trip to Reno. The dropped the opening game on Tuesday 5-4, falling behind 5-0 before mounting their comeback attempt. They would not get down early on Wednesday; though they would go onto lose again by a score of 8-3. Dan Trumble led off the game with a triple against starter Jesse Hall. Two batters later Steve Moss singled Trumble home and the Crew got on the board early. Moss and Ryan Lehr executed a perfect double steal to put two more runners in scoring position.

They didn't stay there long as Brett Flowers, recently acquired from Reno, knocked them both in with the swing of his bat, giving the Armada a three-run lead.

The Silver Sox came out swinging in their half of the frame, thanks to a John Hattig homerun. Reno's Carlos Madrid launched a solo shot of his own in the fourth inning to tie the game at three.

The Armada chased Hall after just 4 innings and Andrew Alvarado replaced him. Jonathan Figueroa pitched five innings for Long Beach before handing the ball to Andrew Layfield.

The Sox scored a run in the sixth to take the lead, 4-3. It was still 4-3 in the middle of the eighth when Juan Senrioso smashed a round-tripper of his own, extending the Reno lead to 5-3. The Sox would get three more across the plate in the bottom of the eighth; giving the Armada a five-run hole they could not get themselves out of.
