PEORIA, Ariz. (Tuesday, April 08, 2014) - Arizona United Soccer Club (Arizona United SC) - Arizona's only professional soccer team playing in the USL PRO league - is proud to announce the signing of defender Scott Morrison for the upcoming 2014 USL PRO season, pending league and USSF approval.
"I'm excited. There has been a great vibe around the place since they came into USL," Morrison said. "Great people involved, and it's an exciting time to be a part of the USL PRO."
Morrison stays in Arizona after playing for the Phoenix FC Wolves in 2013, where he captained the Wolves and amassed over 2,000 minutes in 25 league appearances. During that time, he scored three goals and notched two assists.
"I was out here last season and liked Phoenix a lot, and it was great playing in the USL PRO," Morrison said. "When I found out that there was a team that was going to be here in Arizona, I was desperate to come back out, really. There was only one place in my mind where I wanted to be, and that was here in America again. I'm really thankful for the opportunity to be playing soccer out here. I love playing soccer and there is nothing better than playing soccer out here in the sun and in an exciting organization. Hopefully we can go places."
Hailing from Aberdeen, Scotland, Morrison made his professional debut in 2003 for hometown club Aberdeen F.C., where he logged 40 appearances for the Dons in two seasons. Morrison joined Dunfermline Athletic in 2005, and made 32 league appearances. Morrison moved over to Ross County in 2008, and appeared in over 100 league matches. In his final season at Ross County, Morrison helped the club win the 2011-12 Scottish First Division.
With the signing of Morrison, Arizona United SC now have eight players on the roster for the upcoming season. Earlier this week Arizona United SC announced the signings of goalkeeper Michael D'Arrigo, defender Daniel Antúnez, midfielders Matt Kassel and Widner Saint Cyr, and forwards Brad Stisser, Brandon Swartzendruber and Kadeem Dacres.
