
Arizona Remains On Top After Week 9

CHICAGO - The Arizona Rattlers (8-1) remain atop the latest Arena Football vPower Rankings for the third straight week, as tabulated on AFLFieldPass.com, following a 56-49 victory over the Chicago Rush (4-5) in Week 9.
Rattlers quarterback Nick Davila threw for 301 yards and seven touchdowns on 18-for-31 passing. Davila extended his streak of games without an interception to five. Arizona will host the Iowa Barnstormers (4-5) on Saturday, May 25. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET. The Barnstormers dropped from fourth to ninth in the vPower Rankings after a 43-34 loss to the Utah Blaze (4-4).
The San Jose SaberCats (6-2) stayed at No. 2 for the second consecutive week. They defeated the Jacksonville Sharks (6-3) 57-36 on Saturday. Sabercats quarterback Russ Michna threw his 300th career touchdown pass and the San Jose defense held their opponent to less than 40 points for the fourth straight week. San Jose takes the field next against Utah on Saturday, May 25. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
The Spokane Shock (6-3) responded to losing the second-highest scoring game in AFL history with a 65-54 win against the New Orleans Voodoo (1-7). The victory moved Spokane up from fifth to third in the vPower Rankings. Shock quarterback Erik Meyer followed up a seven-touchdown performance in the 83-82 loss to the Orlando Predators (2-6), with 353 yards and six touchdowns against the Voodoo. The Shock play the San Antonio Talons (4-4) on Friday, May 24. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Tampa Bay Storm (6-3) improved from sixth to fourth in the vPower Rankings with a 62-34 win over the Pittsburgh Power (2-6). Storm quarterback Adrian McPherson broke the single-season franchise record for most rushing touchdowns with 24. McPherson was efficient through the air as well, completing 20-of-22 passes for 240 yards and six touchdowns. Tampa Bay will host the Philadelphia Soul (4-4) in "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff for that game is set for 7:30 ET.
Following the loss to San Jose, the Jacksonville Sharks dropped two spots to No. 5. The Sharks travel to Orlando for a matchup with the 2-6 Predators. It will be the first time Orlando quarterback Aaron Garcia has seen his former team since guiding them to victory in ArenaBowl XXIV in 2011. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
