Saguaros 7, Javelinas 6

In the first all Peoria battle of the 2004 Arizona Fall League season, the Saguaros beat the Javelinas 7-6. Ian Kinsler (TEX) had two home runs and three RBIs in the winning effort. It was the first win for the Saguaros, in a game that saw five different lead changes.

Down by one in the second inning, Javelinas' hitters Ryan Garko (CLE) and Mike Morse (SEA) each had a single to start the inning. A single by Mike Huggins (BAL) scored Garko to tie the game at one. Two more runs would score, to give the Javelinas their first lead on RBIs by Kevin Kouzmanoff (CLE) and Jerry Owens (MON).

The bats were quiet on both sides until the sixth inning, when Kinsler hit his second solo shot of the game. The blast sparked the Saguaros' offense as J.R. House (PIT) hit a two-run double later in the inning to give the Saguaros a 4-3 lead.

A Shin-Soo Choo (SEA) single and a Garko double with two outs put the Javelinas back on top in the seventh inning. The lead would be short lived as a sacrifice fly by Kinsler in the bottom of the seventh and a two run triple off the center field wall by John Hattig (TOR) gave the Saguaros a 7-6 lead that would stand for good.

Solar Sox 7, Rafters 5

The Mesa Solar Sox came from behind Friday night for their first win of the season. Mesa took a two run lead in the fifth, and the Solar Sox bullpen of Andrew Cavazos (STL) and Ryan Speier (COL) did not allow a run.

Detroit's Chris Shelton tripled to the right field corner in the second inning and scored on a groundout by Ryan Raburn (DET). The Rafters' offense continued in the third, loading the bases with nobody out. Grand Canyon ended up scoring three runs to take a 4-0 lead.

In a ballpark known for balls not traveling well, Grand Canyon's Mitch Jones (NYY) homered to put the Rafters' lead at five. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Solar Sox got on the scoreboard and cut the Rafters' lead to one. A Gabe Johnson (STL) two run single was the big hit in a four run fourth inning for the Solar Sox, making the score 5-4 Grand Canyon.

Mesa, still looking for it's first win, took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two run triple by Chris Duncan (STL). Johnson would add an RBI single to give the Solar Sox a 7-5 lead.
