
Arizona Fall League game notes

Weekend Warriors: In the first weekend of play, Mesa travels to Scottsdale and the Desert Dogs host the Scorpions with a 1:05 pm first pitch. The Javelinas will host the Saguaros to round out the days games, game time is set for 7:05 pm. The Arizona Fall League moves to day five of the Leagues 13th season. Each team will play 38 games and the winners of the two divisions will meet in a one-game championship on November 20th at Scottsdale Stadium.
FRIDAY'S RECAPS
Top Dogs: Jeremy Hermida (FLA) and Nick Gorneault (ANA) led the Desert Dogs to a 11-2 win over Scottsdale. They duo combined for four hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Hermida belted his second home run of the season. Phillies prospect Ryan Howard added a home run with two RBIs and two runs scored for Phoenix. Southpaw Dusty Bergman (ANA) notched his first win of the season.
Home Field Advantage: Ian Kinsler (TEX) led the Saguaros to a 7-6 win over the Javelinas in the first all Peoria match-up of the season. Kinsler belted two home runs in the winning effort. Pittsburgh prospect J.R. House and Toronto prospect John Hattig also contributed at the plate producing clutch hits to secure the Saguaros first win of the season.
Triple threat: A two-run triple off the bat of Chris Duncan (STL) followed by a Gabe Johnson (STL) RBI in the bottom of the fifth inning gave the Solar Sox their final lead and first win of the 2004 Fall League Season. The Solar Sox 7-5 win came behind stellar pitching performances by Zach McClellan (COL), Andrew Cavazos (STL) and Ryan Speier (COL). The trio held the Rafters to one-run in 6.2 innings.
Hall of Fame: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. This years inductees are Garret Anderson (Rafters), Albert Pujols (Scorpions) and Tony Peña (Saguaros). The dates and sites of the ceremonies for each individual will be announced at a later date.
Mark Your Calendars: The Fall League will give away 100 Richie Sexson Bobblehead Dolls October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. Winners will be selected through a lucky number drawing for all fans in attendance.
