FRIDAY'S RECAPS
Flame Thrower: Chris Oxspring (SD) led the Javelinas to a 9-2 win behind a stellar pitching performance. Oxspring pitched five innings of one hit baseball to earn his first win. Peoria's entire offense contributed to the win recording at least one hit apiece. Jerry Owens (MON) led all Javelinas hitters with three hits, including a walk an RBI and a run scored.
Seventh Heaven: A disastrous seventh inning for the Phoenix Desert Dogs allowed the Saguaros to score nine runs on their way to a 10-2 win in Peoria. Ten consecutive Saguaros reached base with two outs in the seventh. Toronto prospects John Hattig and Vito Chiaravalloti led Peoria's offense. Hattig was 2-for-3 with two walks and Chiaravalloti was 2-for-5. The rally spoiled a good start by Phoenix right-hander Keith Bucktrot (PHI) who pitched 5.1 innings and allowed only two hits.
Shelton Shines: On the night Garret Anderson was inducted into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame, the visiting Grand Canyon Rafters scored four runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Scottsdale Scorpions 6-4. A bases loaded double by Chris Shelton (DET) scored the two go-ahead runs. 1,110 fans were in attendance.
