Arias Knocks in Four, WooSox Sail Past Tides in Ten

NORFOLK, VA - Thanks to a six-run explosion in the 10th inning, the Worcester Red Sox (18-12, 54-47) won their third-straight game over the Norfolk Tides (9-20, 37-67), beating the Baltimore Orioles Triple-A affiliate by a 9-6 final on Friday night at Harbor Park.
The WooSox scored in the first inning for the fourth straight game. Franklin Arias hit the third pitch of the game over the left-field fence for his second homer of the series. Mikey Romero drew a four-pitch walk with one out in the frame, and Andrew Knizner doubled him in.
Worcester has now scored 92 runs in the first inning this season, the second most in the International League.
Norfolk tied the game in the home half of the first on a two-run homer from Reed Trimble.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth, when a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt from Bryan Ramos led to Norfolk's third run of the night.
The Tides had the bases loaded in both the third and fifth innings but only managed one run. They stranded 12 runners over the first six innings.
The WooSox tied the game in the seventh. After a one-out double from Tsung-Che Cheng, Arias drilled a double off the left-field wall to drive in Cheng.
Thanks to two scoreless innings from Sam McWilliams and a scoreless ninth from Angel Bastardo, the WooSox forced extra innings.
In the tenth, the WooSox recorded six-straight RBI hits, all with two outs. With runners at first and second, in a 1-2 count, Brett Harris singled home pinch runner Braiden Ward to give the WooSox the lead. Jason Delay's infield hit drove in Allan Castro to give Worcester a two-run advantage. Kristian Campbell hit a single up the middle that knocked in Harris. Cheng ripped a single into right to bring in Delay, and Arias bounced a two-run single into center to extend the lead to 9-3.
Norfolk rallied in the bottom of the tenth inning, scoring three runs, but Wyatt Olds was able to limit the damage and secure the win for the WooSox.
Worcester finished July with a 16-7 record, which is tied for the best month in club history. They are now seven games over .500 for the first time since June 24, 2025.
The WooSox and Tides will play game five of their six-game series tomorrow night at Harbor Park, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm. Worcester has not announced a starter, while left-hander Luis De León, the Orioles seventh-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline, is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut.
