April 7, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - The Arena Football League and Children's Miracle Network are teaming up to create even more awareness for the network of children's hospitals throughout the country. The AFL will air PSA's featuring AFL players starting this weekend.
The commercials feature Los Angeles Avengers WR/LB GREG HOPKINS and WR/LB KEVIN INGRAM as well as Orlando Predators QB JOE HAMILTON and DS KENNY MCENTYRE. The PSA's will air on AFL games broadcast on NBC, FSN and OLN.
"Children's Miracle Network has been making a difference in communities across the nation for more than 20 years and we cannot be more proud to associate the AFL with a group of miracle workers such as this," said Commissioner DAVID BAKER. "We're thrilled to raise awareness of the great work Children's Miracle Network is doing as they continue to save and improve the lives of children by raising funds for 170 children's hospitals across the country."
Many AFL teams have pre-existing relationships with Children's Miracle Network. The international headquarters for Children's Miracle Network is located in Salt Lake City, UT, which is the home of the expansion Utah Blaze.
"The more I learn about the great people involved with the AFL, the more I look forward to the huge difference they will make in the lives of our kids," said Marie Osmond, co-founder of Children's Miracle Network. "As the only girl growing up in a family of eight boys, tackling became almost second-nature. I'm thrilled Children's Miracle Network is partnering with the AFL to help tackle the real-life medical trials of millions of kids."
