Saint John Riptide News Release

(SAINT JOHN, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats will host the Halifax Hurricanes at Harbour Station at 2 PM AST on Saturday April 9th, instead of the scheduled time, in order to allow the Saint John Sea Dogs to play a playoff game at 8 PM.

This will be the first time ever that the Mill Rats and Sea Dogs have played at home on the same day, and the first time an NBL Canada team and a CHL team have played on the same day in the same arena.

To commemorate the first ever 'Saint John Sports Day' the two teams are offering a season ticket holder promotion: the first 500 fans that show their current season tickets at the box office will be able to purchase a $5 ticket* to the Sea Dog's playoff game as well.

The Sea Dogs likewise are offering their season ticket holders the opportunity to attend the Mill Rats 2 PM game on Saturday for $5 also. *A box office fee of $1 applies.

"Saturday is going to be an exciting day for sports in Saint John," said Sea Dogs President Trevor Georgie. "Doubleheaders don't happen often and we're happy to be partnering with the Mill Rats to give our loyal fans the chance to enjoy both games at an affordable price. These games can bring our community together Uptown in a celebration of sport."

The Mill Rats are in a battle for homecourt advantage in the playoffs and Saturday is a critical game if they hope to catch the #1 ranked Hurricanes. The Mill Rats are in second place at 19-12 and Hurricanes are in 1st at 21-8. However the Mill Rats have beaten the Halifax five times this season including all three games at Harbour Station.

The Sea Dogs are in the QMJHL Quarter Finals against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles with Saturday being Game 2 of that series.

"It will be an exciting day for Saint Johners to come uptown and spend the day taking in a thrilling basketball game, followed by an exciting playoff hockey game," said Mill Rats President Ian McCarthy. "It can't get much better than that for sports fans. We don't just want basketball fans to go to the basketball game and hockey fans to go to the hockey game, we want all of Saint John to come out that day and support both of their teams!"

Single game, flex, and prorated season tickets are on sale at the Harbour Station Box Office or by calling 506-657-1234 or by visiting www.harbourstation.ca.
