Another Fever Record Set

May 22, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Tri-Cities Fever News Release

Kennewick, WA. Paris Moore quietly became the Tri-Cities Fever single season rushing record holder on Saturday night against the St. Joseph Cyclones. He surpassed the mark set by Jarvis Dunn last season. Dunn rushed for 418 yards, while leading the Fever in rushing and finishing second in receiving last season. Dunn moved over to receiver this season and Moore has stepped in, in a big way. After his three carry, thirty-four yard effort Saturday night, Moore has 430 yards on the season with five regular season games remaining. He has also scored rushing 14 touchdowns, just three shy of Dunn's single season rushing touchdown mark of 17 that he had last season.

Quarterback Joe Wiser completed 3 passes while two of them landed for touchdowns. His rather uneventful night finished with 36 yards passing. Newcomer James McNear III completed both of his pass attempts, one for a touchdown, and also ran for a score. Wiser has thrown 16 touchdown passes against just three interceptions on the season.

Receiver Kevin Heard was back in action after missing a week due to a wrist injury. He was on the end of a touchdown pass by both quarterbacks and finished with 2 catches for 59 yards. Quincy Jackson got his first rushing touchdown of the season with a four yard run to the corner of the end zone.

The Fever defense picked off 9 Cyclone passes on the night. Five of them were returned for touchdowns. Antar Brame had three picks, Sullivan Beard had two, while Shamsid-Deen, Britton Smith, Brandon Hazenberg, and Jarvis Dunn each all had one as well. Antar Brame and Sullivan Beard each have 6 interceptions on the season to pace the team.

In the first half defensive end Michael Hodges paced the Fever with 2 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, while Scott Young recorded a sack and a tackle for loss, also in the first half.

The Fever will make their first ever trip to Bozeman, Montana to take on the Big Sky Thunder Saturday, May 27, kick-off is at 6:05 pm (pst).
