Another Day At The Beech: Bucks Sign Third Goaltender

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League have announced the signing of goaltender Kevin Beech for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Beech was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round (#165 overall)of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Beech is the third goalie to sign with the Bucks this season, joining Dustin Traylen, and Ryan Senft on the roster.

Beech, a native of London, Ontario, went pro at the end of last season. He played in six games for the AHL's Springfield Falcons going 0-3 with a 3.13 goals against average, and a .903 save percentage in playing 211 minutes between the pipes.

"We have been after Kevin all summer long." Said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski, "he has great size, and outstanding credentials. He's always had a good save percentage, and goals against average. He covers a lot of the net."

Before turning pro Beech spent four seasons in the OHL, playing for the Sudbury Wolves for three and a half seasons from 2003-2007, then finishing out the 2006-07 junior season with Erie Otters. In those four seasons Beech won over 50 games, with a career high 33 wins coming in the 2005-06 campaign.

"Kevin is a good kid", Ruskowski said, "you can tell he was brought up the right way when you talk to him. We are looking forward to having him here, and competing for the job".

The 2005-06 season Beech saw his most action, playing in 63 games, with a 33-25-5 record, a 2.94 G.A.A, a .906 save percentage, in logging 3,690 minutes of ice time. He also had a hand in the offense with five assists from his goalie position.

*Game Time Change*

The Bucks third road game of the season in Amarillo on Tuesday October 23rd has been changed to an 11am starting time, instead of the scheduled 7pm start. This will be the Gorillas annual kids day game.

The Bucks, who have announced 17 player signings, are preparing for their sixth CHL season, and will start training camp October 8th. Laredo will open the 2007-08 season on a three-game road trip starting October 19th in New Mexico. The home opener is October 26th against division foe Corpus Christi.
