Anaheim Storms into California

September 17, 2003 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

The Anaheim franchise will continue to be known as the Storm, it was announced today by Team Governor Chip Santye in a press conference at the Arrowhead Pond at Anaheim. Joining Santye was National Lacrosse League Commissioner Jim Jennings, General Manager Jim Brady, Head Coach Peter Vipond, team members Steve Sombrotto and Marc Morley, and members of the management staff of the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim.

The Storm logo features a "super-hero" type lacrosse player, in the team's primary colors of blue and black. "The Storm logo and team name has and will continue to be a big part of the club," Santye said. "We hope to offer the city of Anaheim and the Arrowhead Pond an exciting product both on and off the floor this season." The team also announced the launching of its new website, www.anaheimstorm.com. The Storm will open their season at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim on Saturday, January 10th, as they host Arizona. Game time is 7:30pm.

Last month the League officially announced the relocation of the former New Jersey Storm franchise to the city of Anaheim, California and Arrowhead Pond at Anaheim. The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim is operated by Ogden Facility Management Corporation (OFM). The management staff at Arrowhead Pond will oversee the business, marketing and day-to-day operations of the team.

Members of the Anaheim Storm team are scheduled to make an appearance on 'The Best Damn Sports Show Period' on Thursday, September 18th. The Fox Sports Net program is broadcast on regional Fox Sports Net and other regional cable sports networks across the United States. Check your local listings for broadcast times in your area.
