Albany, NY ¬" May 9, 2011 ¬" In an effort to introduce the Capital Region ¬â¢s only pro basketball team to the greater Schenectady community, a select group of downtown Schenectady merchants have invited the 2010 International Basketball League Champion Albany Legends to enjoy ¬ÅAn Afternoon in Schenectady ¬Â on Thursday, May 12.
The event is being organized by Direct Consumer Marketing, a local marketing and fundraising agency which operates The Coupon Cart magazine and The Worthy Card charity fundraising program.
Participating merchants include: Paul Mitchell the school, Villa Italia Pasticceria, Nico ¬â¢s Pizzeria, Bow Tie Movieland Cinema, the Empire State Aerosciences Museum, and Stratton Air National Guard Base. Each merchant will be offering free admission, product, and/or services to the Legends team members. The event schedule (including what each merchant is offering the players) is as follows:

The team will be available to interact with members of the press and public at all venues involved, except the ANG base. Each participating merchant will be presented with a commemorative ¬Åteam signed ¬Â basketball at each visit. The ideal news photo and video opportunities will be the 12:15 Mayor ¬â¢s greeting / team skills demo, the 12:50 team ¬â¢s lunch at Nico ¬â¢s Pizzeria, the 1:20 treatment at the Paul Mitchell School (where the entire team will occupy the waterfall-framed ¬Åwash room ¬Â for their T-3 treatments), and the 2:15 visit to Villa Italia.
The team will say ¬Åthank you ¬Â to Schenectady by dedicating this weekend ¬â¢s 3 home games to the Schenectady community. Any fans presenting I.D. showing a Schenectady address will receive a 50% discount on tickets for the May 13, 14, and 15 games (vs. the Edmonton Energy from Canada). Games to be played at Christian Brothers Academy in Colonie. The Friday and Saturday games start at 7 PM. Sunday ¬â¢s game starts at 6 PM.
