(Rochester, NY)... Keaton Ellerby, the 10th overall selection in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers, completed his first full season as a pro and as a member of the Rochester Americans in 2008-09. In his debut season, the 6-foot-4, 186-pound defenseman showed off his abilities by finishing second in scoring among team defensemen with 23 points, while netting three goals and 20 assists. The Strathmore, Alberta, native was named the teams' 2008-09 Most Improved Player and was called up to the NHL on two occasions. Now with his rookie season over, Amerks.com caught up with the young standout to see what his life was like off the ice.

1.) What was the high point of the 2008-09 season?

Getting called up to "the show" for the first time!

2.) Where did you go after the season ended?

Montreal, Minnesota and then finally came back home.

3.) When will you begin on-ice training?

I already have.

4.) What are you working on to get to the NHL?

Get heavier and stronger.

5.) How do you spend your free time?

Hanging out with friends, golfing and just relaxing.

6.) What is your favorite vacation spot?

Lots of places, pretty much wherever is warm.

7.) Did you watch the NHL Playoffs? If so, what team were you pulling for?

Yes, I watched throughout the entire playoffs. I wanted Chicago to win it.

8.) Any plans for the summer?

Get in a few months of relaxation and start getting ready for next season.

9.) Who is your favorite athlete?

LeBron James.

10.) What's one thing you can't live without?

My car.

11.) In the summer, do you prefer to work out or cook out?

I'd like to do both as much as I can.

12.) What is your favorite junk food?

Chicken wings.

13.) Do you use Twitter?

No.

14.) What is your favorite sports movie?

Blow.

15.) What do you enjoy the most about playing in Rochester?

Just being able to play hockey.

16.) Who on your team is destined to become a reality TV star?

"Planter," for sure. (Tyler Plante).

17.) Why is hockey the best sport?

Hockey is the best sport because it is the most exciting.

18.) Are you looking forward to 2009-10?

Yes, very much.
