Sioux Falls 3, Sioux City 1 (Sioux Falls wins series 3-0) @ Sioux City, IA Time: 2:34 Attendance: 1,071 W: Travis Kane (1-0) L: Paige Dumont (0-1) S: Kris Regas (2) HR: None Sioux Falls advanced to the American Association Championship Series with a 3-1 win at Sioux City. The game featured great pitching on both sides with Travis Kane throwing 5 1/3 innings for the Canaries and earning the victory. Kane struck out four and allowed just five hits and one earned run. Sioux City's Paige Dumont was equally impressive striking out eight and allowing three earned runs on six hits. Sioux Falls got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning when 2B Josh Patton singled to center. On two subsequent bunts, Sioux City tried and failed to get the lead runner, creating a bases-loaded and none out situation for Sioux Falls. C Paul Smyth took advantage with a single to right field that made the score 2-0 Sioux Falls. In the bottom of the sixth with runners at first and third, Sioux City RF Juan Senreiso doubled down the right field line to make it a 2-1 game. The Canaries got a big insurance run in the seventh inning when SS Tim Hutting doubled to center field to drive in Smyth. The Canaries bullpen allowed just two hits in 3 2/3 innings with Kris Regas, the league leader in saves, working a 1-2-3 ninth inning and striking out two. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Fort Worth 1, Grand Prairie 0 @ Grand Prairie, TX Time: 2:49 Attendance: 3,028 W: Dan Grybash (1-0) L: Jeff Jamnik (0-1) S: Jon Hunton (1) HR: Nilson Teilon (2) Dan Grybash refused to let Fort Worth bow out of the playoffs as he struck out 10 batters in seven innings, helping the Cats emerge with a 1-0 victory at Grand Prairie. The AirHogs still lead the series two games to one with game four to be played Friday night. Fort Worth's Nilson Teilon homered off Grand Prairie starter Jeff Jamnik in the top of the second inning for the game's only run. While Grybash walked none and allowed just four hits, Grand Prairie had chances in the contest but couldn't cash in. The Airhogs left several men on base in the late innings and a total of seven in the contest. Cats closer Jon Hunton rebounded from a blown save in game two by getting the final three outs of the game, stranding runners at first and second at game's end. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- American Association Playoff Schedule (All times are Central):
