The Sioux Falls Canaries won the 2008 American Association Championship in dramatic fashion as a single off the bat of Canaries 1B Patrick Reilly scored CF Beau Torbert to give Sioux Falls the walk-off win, 5-4. The Canaries pounded out 14 hits in the game and held a 4-1 lead heading into the eighth inning. But consecutive home runs by the AirHogs tied the score at 4-4 and set the stage for the dramatic finish. Sioux Falls 2B Josh Patton led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run. The Canaries bullpen duo of closer Kris Regas and Mark Roberts combined to toss four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven. In the end, it was Roberts that picked up the win, his first of the postseason, securing the title for the Canaries.
