Grand Prairie 8, St. Paul 5 (Grand Prairie wins championship, 3-2)

The Grand Prairie AirHogs are the 2011 American Association champions after beating the St. Paul Saints 8-5 in game five of the championship series. The AirHogs rolled out to a 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth. St. Paul cut the deficit to one in the top of the seventh before the AirHogs tacked on two runs in both the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings to put the game away. The top of the order for the AirHogs led the charge as the 1-2 hitters of RF Stephen Douglas and SS German Duran combined to go 6-for-10 at the plate with four runs scored and six RBI. During the playoffs, Duran hit .536 with 15 hits in 28 at-bats. Grand Prairie starting pitcher Jason Jennings notched the win after tossing 6 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on six hits. In defeat for St. Paul, RF Shane Costa, CF Ryan Patterson and 1B Jason Cooper each had two hits.
