St. Charles, MO -- The St. Louis Ambush defeated the Illinois Fire 21-8 in a friendly match at the Family Arena Thursday night. In addition to seeing the Ambush win, fans in attendance at Thursday's game got a rare treat in seeing Ambush head coach return to action for the first time in six years. Doran played his last MISL game as a member of the Steamers in 2005 and played for the St. Louis Illusion in the PASL in 2008. Doran tallied a goal and three assists on the night.
Other goals for St. Louis came from Richard Schmerman, John Fridall, Matt Kimball, Ian Quatrocchi, Andres Acosta, John O'Meara and two from Brandon Manzonelli. Jarius Holmes, Robert Bassett and Brad Boyer (2) scored for Illinois.
Next up for the Ambush, presented by Simmons First National Bank, is a friendly against a team of Lindenwood University Alumni players this Saturday, January 11 at 1:35 p.m. at the Family Arena. The Ambush resume regular-season MISL action with four consecutive road games starting with their first visit of the season to Baltimore to tangle with the Blast on Friday, January 17.
