Bellingham Slam News Release

LANGLEY, B.C. - Amaya had his second dominating performance in as many nights as he helped the Bellingham Slam earn a big road victory against the Vancouver Titans, 120-109, at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday.

Amaya scored 36 against the Titans to lead all scorers and follow up on a 31-point outing against Snohomish County on Friday.

The Slam used a steady attack against Vancouver to earn the victory. The Slam outscored the Titans 31-28 in the first quarter, then 34-29 in the second to take an eight-point lead into halftime.

The third quarter was the only time the Slam let the Titans get back into the game, with Vancouver taking their first lead since the game's first possession, at 77-75, with 6:20 left. But the duo of Amaya and Jacob Stevenson helped Bellingham re-take the lead late in the period, with the Slam taking a 93-90 into the fourth quarter.

The Slam used tough defense in the final quarter to help seal the victory, allowing Vancouver only 19 points in the period. A Calin Schell put-back was the nail in the coffin for the Titans, which put the Slam up by 16 with under four minutes to play.

Jacob Stevenson scored 30 points following a one-game rest to earn second-best scoring honors for the Slam. Ira Graham and Jake Linton finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Kyle Keyes' 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting was the best for Vancouver, who lost their third straight game after a 3-0 start.

The Slam return home to take on the Seattle Mountaineers on Friday in a re-match of the 2009 season opener. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
