Amarillo Venom, American Cancer Society Team up to "Kick-Off Cancer"
March 8, 2016 - Champions Indoor Football (CIF)
Amarillo Venom News Release
The Amarillo Venom and the American Cancer Society announced a new partnership on Monday, in an effort to fight cancer and recognize those who have survived its ailments.
On March 19, the Venom will begin the 2016 season by honoring cancer survivors and their families, help create cancer awareness and encourage folks to attend the Amarillo Relay For Life on May 6 at Vintage Auto Haus (located at 8201 W. Amarillo Blvd.) from 6 p.m. to midnight.
"In some way or another, cancer has affected everyone," said Owner-General Manager Stephanie Tucker. "The Amarillo Venom is proud to team up with American Cancer Society to help bring more awareness to kick off for the relay season. We want to offer a way to give back to this organization, plus an opportunity to have a family event that is packed full of fun for everyone to enjoy and forget for just a couple hours about this terrible disease and just live."
Planned activities include pregame recognition as well as a cancer survivor to participate in the coin flip.
Fans can join in to support the Venom and the Society, too. When purchasing a ticket at the ticket booth or online, just say or type in the word "RELAY" and the Amarillo Venom will donate $1 from the ticket sale to the ACS.
"It's a win/win for both organizations," said Relay For Life co-lead volunteer Marla Clark. "Anytime you can create cancer awareness, it's a good thing. Our goal is for folks to come to the game, cheer on the Venom and then come out to the Relay For Life on May 6."
