Amarillo Falls Short To Arkansas

Amarillo, TX - Despite a great season the Amarillo Venom (12-4) fall to the Arkansas Diamonds (13-3) in the second round of the playoffs 31-46.

Arkansas began the scoring in the first quarter with a field goal by kicker Brian Ummstead. Venom wide receiver Ricardo Lenhart caught the ball for a 24 yard receiving touchdown. Amarillo 7, Arkansas 3.

Diamonds wide receivers Bradley Chavez and Brett Smith collected three touchdowns during the second quarter. Venom wide receiver Anthony Clark scored a 30 yard receiving touchdown, as the Diamonds led 23-14 at the half.

Arkansas running back AJ Harris began the third quarter with a touchdown. Venom wide receiver Alex Watson responded with a 28 yard receiving touchdown. Diamonds quarterback drove the ball in for a quick score as the extra point would be blocked and recovered by Venom defensive back Darrius Battles. Arkansas would close the quarter with a Brian Umstead field goal. Amarillo 21, Arkansas 39.

The fourth quarter started off with a Darren McCaleb 28-yard field goal. Venom wide receiver Alex Watson followed with a 45-yard receiving touchdown. The Diamonds responded quick with wide receiver Brett Smith scoring the final touchdown of the game. The final score Amarillo 31, Arkansas 46.
