Alpena MI: The Alpena IceDiggers defeated the Marquette Rangers by a score of 6-0 on Sunday afternoon in Marquette.
Netminder Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Hts MI) recorded his first shutout for Alpena making 26 saves.
Newly acquired Kenny Brandt (Plymouth MI) and assistant captain Todd Rudasill (Powell OH) each scored 2 goals and added 2 assists apiece. Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI) added a goal and 2 assists. Mike DeGrazia (Novi MI) also scored.
Korey O'Brien (Southgate MI) added 2 assists, while Erik Peterson (Alpena MI), Chris Hendrickson (Hancock MI) and Justin Stadler (Livonia MI) each chipped in 1 assist.
Alpena went 3-10 with the man advantage while Marquette was 0-3 in the game.
The IceDiggers continue their 10 game road swing with three games this upcoming week. On Thursday Alpena will travel to Ann Arbor to take on the USA U-17 team, then on Friday and Saturday the IceDiggers will play in Mahoning Valley against the Phantoms all three games start at 7:00PM.
