Alpena IceDiggers News Release
Marquette MI: You can call them the come back kids, after trailing 2-0 for most of the game, the Alpena IceDiggers scored three unanswered goals in a span of under fourteen minutes to claim a 3-2 win tonight at Lakeview Arena in front of a crowd of 2,273. Tonight's game marked the first ever home game for the Rangers.
According to Head Coach Kenny Miller his club was confident even when they were down two goals going into the final twenty minutes of play. "The difference between this year and last year is experience, this group of players will never give up and it showed tonight. We were ok the first forty minutes, but in the third I thought we took it to them and was able to get a big win on the road."
Powell OH native Todd Rudasill got Alpena on the board first scoring a powerplay goal while the IceDiggers were on a two man advantage, Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) picked up the assist. Rookie Chad Billins (Marysville MI) would tie the game at two with just under five minutes to play on a blast from the left point, Austin Seiple (Maumee OH) had the lone assist on the marker. The tally was Chad's first Jr. "A" goal. Three minutes remained in the tie game when Zach Barron (St. Louis MO) scored the game winner on a great effort taking the puck wide and cutting back to the net to seal the win for Alpena.
