Harrisburg Stampede News Release
HARRISBURG, PA (December 13, 2011) - Harrisburg Stampede's General Manager and Head Coach, Bernie Nowotarski announced today that All-Star Veteran Defensive Back Armar Watson has signed with the Stampede for the 2012 Season.
Well it may be the 13th of the month but there was no bad luck or bad news in the fax machine today. The Stampede has just signed one of the best DB's to roam a secondary in any league he has played in over the past 6 seasons. That includes the AIFA, AF2, and SIFL. His Indoor career has landed him in Reading, Baltimore, Texas and Fayetteville.
The player coach tandem of Watson and Nowotarski goes back to their days together in Reading. In Reading, Watson earned the honor of being the League Defensive MVP for the 06 and 07 seasons. In 08, he was voted as the AF2 Ironman of the Year and again in 2010 he was the Defensive Player of the Year in the AIFA. He has been an All-League player on every team that he has been associated with and we expect no less this season, for the Stampede. Every season he is among the top of the interception leaders and has amassed an amazing 72 picks in his career. The Hyattsville, Maryland resident played his high school football at Suitland HS. He then attended Duquesne University and was a stand-out college DB.
At 5'11" and 195lbs, Armar is one of those players that have a knack of finding and always being near the football. He is a quiet leader, who watches film, studies receivers and is an outstanding teammate. Armar is an unselfish player and is the total defensive package. As well, he is equally a threat as a return man and wide receiver.
Just a Reminder: Stampede Open-Try Out Saturday January 7 at Gameface International Sports Complex in Temple Pa., Registration starts at 9pm and the Work-Out is from 10pm - 12:30am.
