All-SPHL First Team Announced

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League on Friday announced its 2010-2011 All-SPHL First Team as selected in a vote of SPHL coaches and media representatives.

F - Chris Leveille, Fayetteville FireAntz (54 gp, 32 g, 41 a, 73 pts, 6 gwg, 5 ppg)

F - Chris Wilson, Pensacola Ice Flyers (54 gp, 39 g, 32 a, 71 pts, 8 gwg, 4 shg, +12)

F - Matt Auffrey, Augusta RiverHawks (54 gp, 21 g, 49 a, 70 pts, +23, 3 gwg)

D - Mark Van Vliet, Knoxville Ice Bears (42 gp, 14 g, 27 a, 41 pts, 5 ppg, 5 gwg)

D - Omar Pacha, Huntsville Havoc (54 gp, 7 g, 26 a, 33 pts, 11 ppa, +9)

G - Mark Sibbald, Huntsville Havoc (28 gp, 14-12, 2.56 gaa, .914 save%, 2 so)

Chris Leveille of the Fayetteville FireAntz, one of two players to make his second consecutive appearance on the All-SPHL First Team, currently leads the SPHL with 73 points. Leveille ranks third in goals (32) and fourth in both assists (41) and power-play assists (16).

Chris Wilson of the Pensacola Ice Flyers currently leads the SPHL in goals (39), game-winning goals (8) and shorthanded goals (4 - tied), while his 71 is second overall. Also named to the SPHL All-Rookie Team, Wilson ranks second among rookies with 32 assists and eight power-play goals.

Matt Auffrey of the Augusta RiverHawks currently leads the SPHL in plus-minus with a +23 rating, is second in assists (49) and third in points (70). Auffrey also leads the RiverHawks with 13 power-play assists.

Mark Van Vliet of the Knoxville Ice Bears also makes his second consecutive appearance on the All-SPHL First Team. Despite missing the past 12 games due to injury, Van Vliet still leads all defensemen in points (41), goals (14) game-winning goals (5) and shootout goals (2). Van Vliet is also second among blueliners with five power-play goals and third with 27 assists.

Omar Pacha of the Huntsville Havoc, another member of the SPHL All-Rookie Team, is third among all SPHL defensemen with seven goals and 33 points, while his 26 assists and +9 rating are both fourth best among blue-liners. Pacha ‚¬â„¢s 11 assists on the power play also ties him for first among rookies.

Mark Sibbald of the Huntsville Havoc is currently second among goaltenders with a 2.56 goals against average and fourth in save percentage (.914). Sibbald ‚¬â„¢s two shutouts are third best among SPHL netminders, while his 14 wins rank fifth in the league.

The SPHL will announce its Rookie of the Year on Monday.
