All Or Nothing; Toros Looking to Qualify for Playoffs in Last Regular-Season Game

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (12-11-8; 44 pts.) will take on El Paso Locomotive FC (18-3-10; 64 pts.) at H-E-B Park on Saturday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. CST for an opportunity at qualifying to the playoffs. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Toros light up badge presented by Saenz Medical Pharmacy.

The Toros sit fourth in the Mountain Division standings, aiming to earn the final spot in the group for playoffs. Last time both teams met at H-E-B Park, RGV came out with a 3-2 victory over El Paso, earning an overall 2-0-0 home record against Los Locos.

RGV FC: During the week RGV FC traveled to Zions Bank Stadium to take on Real Monarchs SLC which resulted in a 3-1 win for the Toros. Christian Sorto gave the Toros an early 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. Jonas Fjeldberg attempted to take a shot at goal but was deflected by a Real Monarchs defender. Sorto received the deflected ball at an angle and took a right footed shot to the top right of the net. In the 41st minute the match was equalized as Adrian Diz Pe scored an own goal after the ball bounced off of him and into the goal. At the 62nd minute RGV took a 2-1 lead after Fjeldberg took an assist from Sorto. Fjeldberg took a right footed shot from the left side of the box to the top right corner. Five minutes after the goal the Toros won a free kick. Rodrigo Lopez took the free kick and converted it into a goal after he placed the ball into the top right-hand corner of the net. RGV led the night with 15 shots, five on target. Real Monarchs tallied seven shots, two on target.

ELP: Last weekend El Paso Locomotive FC obtained a 4-0 victory against OKC Energy FC. The four goals came within the last eight minutes of the first half. Josue Gomez scored the first goal of the game in the 40th minute as he took a left footed shot from the center of the box to the center of the goal. Two minutes later Macauley King scored off a right footed shot from the right side and into the goal. At the 44th minute Gomez struck again with his second goal of the game. Three minutes into stoppage time King scored the fourth and final goal of the game off a header. Dylan Mares assisted three goals while Matt Bahner assisted with one. El Paso led the night with 14 shots, seven on target. OKC totaled seven shots. Gomez tallied six shots, three on target and created two opportunities. Mares created five opportunities for the team and had one shot. Meanwhile King accumulated four shots, three on target and one created opportunity.
