JACKSONVILLE - Fullback Alstevis Squirewell (6'0, 265) has signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for his second season of arena football and second season with the Jacksonville Sharks. Squirewell is the eighth returning player from the Sharks NAL Championship roster. Within the last two weeks, lineman Derrick Ziegler, Aaron Bellazin, Jaleel Brown, Jonathan Taylor, Mike Williams, linebacker/fullback Zack Brown, and defensive back Tony Goodman, each re-signed with the Sharks under new head coach James Fuller for the 2020 season. The return of Squirewell paints a bright picture for the 2020 Sharks offense with both center Derrick Ziegler and lineman Mike Williams returning to the offensive line to block for the NAL's #1 ranked fullback.

Last season, Squirewell led the NAL with 60 rushes for 189 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also proved to be very successful in the Sharks passing game, receiving seven catches for 70 yards and one touchdown. In the postseason, Squirewell caught a crucial two-point conversion in the championship game against the Carolina Cobras. Following the end of the 2019 season, Squirewell received First Team All-NAL honors. Prior to the Sharks, Squirewell signed with the Green Bay Packers for the 2016 rookie minicamp.

In college, Squirewell was a defensive lineman for Newberry College, a Division II school in Newberry, South Carolina. During his career at Newberry College, he made 154 tackles, forced 13 sacks, caught two interceptions, broke up four passes, and blocked a kick. His college accolades include being named an ECAAC All-Star, First Team D2CCA All-Super Region II defensive lineman, Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Super Region II defensive linemen, and a two-time First Team All-South Atlantic Conference defensive lineman.

Squirewell is from Great Falls, SC and attended Great Falls High School, where he played both fullback and defensive line. In two seasons, he rushed for 1,137 yards and 15 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Squirewell racked up 104 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions.
